Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce cost and to shorten a printing required time, by providing a data rotating means for rotating image data by 90 deg. and a rotation data buffer memory for buffering rotated image data. CONSTITUTION:When the image data formed to the video buffer region of the memory (RAM) of a printer controller on the basis of page data and source data is rotated by 90 deg. by a data rotary device 143, the (nXn)-dot two-dimensional data among the formed data are at first inputted to the matrix memory 144 of the data rotary device 143 by operating an input clock generating circuit 145 and, thereafter, an output clock generating circuit 146 is operated to read said data in a 90 deg.-rotated state and new image data is formed on the rotary data buffer region on a memory. When this image data is outputted to a printer engine as video data, printing can be performed in a landscape mode.
