Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance an attractive force, by providing an insulating protrusion between positive and negative electrodes, and setting the volume resistivity of the projection to be higher than that of an attracting layer. CONSTITUTION:This electrostatic attractor comprises an insulator layer 1, sawtooth-shaped positive and negative electrodes 2a, 2b, an attracting layer 3, and an insulating protrusion 5 provided between the electrodes 2a and 2b. The protrusion 5 formed to protrude above the upper surfaces of the electrodes 2a, 2b is disposed in the state of being embedded in the attracting layer 3, has a volume resistivity higher than that of the attracting layer 3, and has a specific inductive capacity lower than that of the layer 3. Therefore, the dielectric flux density in the attractive layer 3 is increased, and an attractive force is enhanced. In addition, since the protrusion 5 functions as an insulating barrier between the electrodes 2a, 2b, a voltage applied between the electrodes 2a, 2b is increased. Consequently, it is possible to reduce the spacing between the electrodes 2a, 2b, and to enhance the attractive force.
