Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent damage of the nearly U-shaped part, mechanically weakest portion of a lamp by providing a reinforcing member between the two bulbs where the bulbs are most readily touched in handling. CONSTITUTION:When the base 6 of a fluorescent lamp 1 is placed upward, a transparent reinforcing member 10 is provided at the lowest point of the bulbs 2, 2 so that the member 10 is bridged between the two bulbs 2, 2. The member 10 is composed of two hold portions 11, 11 holding the bulbs 2, 2 and a connector portion 12 connecting the portions 11, 11 together. The reinforcing member 10 is divided in two half pieces 10a, 10b and they are attached to the bulbs 2, 2 of the fluorescent lamp 1 as a unit. When the fluorescent lamp device is fitted to or removed from an adaptor, the handler most likely holds the bulbs 2, 2 of the fluorescent lamp 1. At this time, a force is applied to the bulbs 2, 2 so as to bring them together, but it is cancelled by the repulsion of the reinforcing member 10, so that damage of the fluorescent lamp can be prevented.
