Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily manufacture a ceramics heating unit having good conductivity and high strength by containing a silicon carbide fiber in a silicon nitride matrix at a suitable inclusion rate. CONSTITUTION:A silicon nitride powder, sinter assistant, and 10-55wt.% silicon carbide fiber are blended and extrusively molded in a rod state with an organic binder mixed, then sintered. This enables the silicon carbide to be three dimensionally connected in a sintered body to give conductivity to the sintered body, and also to act to prevent the rupture of a silicon nitride matrix to make the sintered body high strength. A ceramics heating unit having both high conductivity and rupture strength can be easily manufactured with an inclusion rate of the silicon carbide fiber made to a range of 10-55wt.%, though conductivity lowers at the rate mentioned above below 10wt.% and rupture strength lowers at above 55wt.%.
