PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-accuracy color filter by applying a photosensitive resin on a transparent substrate and performing exposure and development to form a relief of picture elements, and then performing exposure from the side of the transparent substrate and eliminating the separation swelling of the picture element relief, etc. CONSTITUTION:The entire surface of the transparent substrate 1 is coated with the photosensitive resin 2 and a photomask 3 is used to perform exposure by using an extra-high pressure mercury lamp. The development is carried out using hot water after the exposure, the entire-surface exposure is performed from the side of the transparent substrate 1 to increase the adhesive strength between the photosensitive resin and transparent substrate, and the substrate is dipped in a dyeing liquid; and this process is repeated for colors R, G, and B to obtain the excellent color filter. A liquid crystal panel is constituted by using this color filter 7 and while white light is projected from below, a TFT is driven according to a picture element signal to vary a voltage applied to a liquid crystal layer 6 and thus vary the quantity of light, thereby reproducing a color image. Consequently, the adhesion between the photosensitive resin 2 and transparent substrate 1 is improved to eliminate the separation of picture elements, thereby holding the gap of the liquid crystal layer 6 uniform.
