Abstract

PURPOSE:To favorably transfer rugged patterns having good surface quality onto the surface of a rolled stock by rolling a stock with the surface of a roll on which rugged patterns are formed is under a stronger lubricated condition than the surface of the other roll. CONSTITUTION:An upward camber is eliminated by more strongly lubricating a grooved roll 1 side than a flat roll 2 side. A rib height is somewhat lowered but it is no problem in use. The strong lubrication means to more supply a lubricant onto a unit surface area of a roll surface per unit time. That is, a shear deformation amount is generated in surface layer parts in the vicinity of edge parts 4 in the rolling direction of rib patterns formed on a rolled stock 3 by restriction of groove edge parts; but the deformation amount is reduced by a stronger lubrication at the grooved roll 1 side than that at the flat roll 2 side. Therefore, generation of cracks caused by the large shear deformation is prevented and breakdown of grooved edges is prevented by load reduction through lubricated rolling.
