Shape defects of the stock 16 are prevented by effectively performing the shape control by roll bending forces having high responsiveness. A sheet shape betaki when a roll bending force is a standard value Fk is predictively calculated based on a difference between a present value Fm and the standard value Fk of roll bending force to control a flow rate distribution of a coolant in the roll body length direction. Therefore, a zone coolant is used so that the force Fm does not reach its mechanical high and low limits and to prevent local deformations.
