Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a filter membrane by arranging the grooves of the liq. collecting parts of the opposed filter plates so that the directions of the grooves cross each other, and protecting the filter membrane by the respective liq. collecting parts in backwashing. CONSTITUTION:A vertical liq. collecting part 5a having the grooves formed by a vertical recessed part 6a and a vertical projecting part 7a is provided on the front side of the base plate 2 of the filter plate 1, and a horizontal liq. collecting part 5b having the grooves formed by a horizontal recessed part 6b and a horizontal projecting part 7b is provided on the rear side of the base plate 2. Consequently, the directions of the liq. collecting parts 5a and 5b cross each other. Many filter plates 1 covered with a filter membrane are laminated to assemble a membrane separator. The expansion of the filter membrane due to backwashing can be controlled by the respective vertical projecting parts 7a and horizontal projecting parts 7b of the base plate 1 in line contact, and hence backwashing can be effectively carried out without damaging the filter membrane.
