Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare the title polymer having excellent moldability and giving highly dielectric compsn., by eliminating side chains of a polymer precursor having ester groups on its side chain represented by a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:The title polymer having high conductivity contg. main repeating units of formula II is prepd. by eliminating (pref. heating in an inert atmosphere) side chains of a polymer precursor having ester groups on its side chain of formula I (wherein R1 is a 1-10C hydrocarbon group; R2 is H or a 1-10C hydrocarbon group; n and m are each an integer of 2 or larger and n/m is 0.05-9). The precursor of formula I gives a film-like molded item having excellent solubility in an org. solvent and stability and it can be converted into poly-2,5-thienylenevinylene exhibiting a conductivity being higher than that of the conventional poly-2,5-thienylenevinylene by eliminating the ester group side chains of the precursor.
