Abstract

PURPOSE:To regenerate a zeolite Y catalyst without changing acid amount and acidic through distribution by bringing the zeolite Y catalyst deteriorated in activity into contact with an ammonium salt aq. soln., washing, drying, heating and dehydrating, and thereafter calcining at specified temp. while blowing air, etc., thereto. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen exchange-type zeolite catalyst which has been used for conversion reaction of an organic compd. and deteriorated in activity is brought into contact with an ammonium salt aq. soln. and thereafter washed and dried. Then, it is heated at 100-250 deg.C, dehydrated, and water contents are regulated to <=3.0wt.% and, thereafter, calcined at 400-650 deg.C under the atmosphere not exceeding 0.05atm. partial pressure of steam while blowing air and/or oxygen and thereby the zeolite catalyst is regenerated. As the above- mentioned ammonium salt, NH4Cl, NH4NO3 and (NH4)2SO4, etc., are used. In the above-mentioned regenerating method, regeneration can be effectively performed without impairing or changing acidic characteristics of the catalyst.
