Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve printing quality and prolong the life of a thermal head by causing a thermal head to bring into contact with a platen under pressure through transmission of the pressure of a cam to a head support from a leaf spring and fixing directly the leaf spring to the head. CONSTITUTION:When the pressure of a cam 6 is applied to the center of a leaf spring 8, a head support 3 rotates a support shaft 4 downward to the center, and a thermal head 2 comes into contact with a recording medium 10 on a platen 1 under pressure. At that time, the pressure contacting force at both ends of the thermal head 2 can be almost equalized by fixing a single leaf spring with a large width to the center of the support 3 and pressing the center of the leaf spring 8 by means of the cam 6. Consequently, printing quality on right and left sides is made even.
