Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a card from being counterfeited by adhering a transparent plastic sheet on a side or both sides of the watermarked paper. CONSTITUTION: A sheet of watermarked paper 2 is first formed and then, characters and patterns are printed on both surfaces of the paper sheet. Unlike the printing on a vinyl chloride sheet, this printing is possible by any of methods such as flat printing, intaglio printing, and letterpress which results in using low cost and precision offset printing. Vinyl chloride transparent sheets 1 and 3 are adhered on both surfaces of the character and pattern printed paper sheet which are put between the mirror finished plate heated to 180 deg.C, and heat-pressed by a press. After the heated sheet is cooled, the sheet is punched to the predetermined shape to finish a card. This manufacturing method enables the viewing of the watermarked pattern by the reflected light and facilitates the discrimination between the real and a counterfeited one, thereby prevents cards from being counterfeited.
