Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent paper and an ink ribbon from making frictional contact with each other, by cutting off the energization of a paper-feeding stepping motor and reversely rotating an ink ribbon-feeding DC motor for a predetermined time at the time of stopping the paper and the ink ribbon used on a label printer. CONSTITUTION:When a controlling means 11 receives a paper-feeding signal, a driving circuit 9 drives a stepping motor 2 to rotate a platen 1, and simultaneously applies a voltage to transistors 13, 16 to energize the transistor 16 through the transistor 13 and a DC motor 8, whereby an ink ribbon take-up shaft 7 is rotated by the motor 8. When the controlling means 11 receives a stopping signal, the driving circuit 9 stops the motor 2, cuts off the supply of power to the transistors 13, 16, and applies a voltage to transistors 14, 15 for a period of time (t). The period of time (t) is a period during which an inertia acts when the energization of the DC motor 8 is stopped. Therefore, the DC motor 8 is rapidly stopped. Thus, a paper 3 and an ink ribbon 4 are prevented from making frictional contact with each other, and clear printing can be achieved.
