Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain the polychromatic display of a display device by a small- scale circuit by connecting plural color information selecting circuits for applying the degree of freedom to the connection of color information output terminals and color driving circuit input terminals between a memory and color driving circuits. CONSTITUTION: In the case of preparing respective pixel data to be displayed by a computer 1 and storing the data in a memory 3, control is executed by a writing control circuit 2 so as not to collide with a display reading cycle. Reading is controlled by a reading control circuit 4, and read pixel data are inputted to respective color information selecting circuits 5-1 to 5-n, and the information of n bits in total obtained by selecting one bit in each circuit 5 is inputted to respective color driving circuits 6 to 8 and outputted to a CRT 9. Each of the circuits 5-1 to 5-n is provided with a switch or a register for determining which bit in the inputted pixel data is to be selected. Even when the numbers of selection colors and display colors are increased, the increment of circuits is proportional to the number of bits of color information, so that the increment of circuits can be suppressed evan when the number of colors to be displayed is increased.
