Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a magnet having excellent magnetic characteristic by adjusting the content of oxygen of magnetic powder for manufacturing a magnet obtained by grinding an Nd-Fe-B alloy ribbon fabricated by sudden cooling and hardening to a specified weight % or below. CONSTITUTION:The Nd-Fe-B alloy is composed of Nd of 23-33%(wt.%), B of 0.5-1.3% and remainder essentially consisting of Fe. These alloy elements are melted under the inactive ambience and are then injected onto a single roll under the room temperature, for example, from the ject caster and suddenly cooled and hardened to obtain a ribbon. In this case, the chamber is evacuated to the predetermined degree of vacuum, the ambience is replaced with the Argon ambience and such materials are cooled and hardened speedily. Content of oxygen of magnetic powder can be controlled to 0.15wt.% or less by adjusting a degree of vacuum before replacement of Argon. An alloy ribbon obtained is ground to the predetermined grain size. For instance, in the case of manufacturing plastic magnet, this magnetic powder is annealed at the temperature of 600 deg.C, it is then mixed with synthetic resin for the compression molding or injecting molding.
