Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely prevent document from being fed in duplicate by providing a suction means to be capable of coming into contact with or coming off both sides of sheet material, detecting the sucked condition of the sheet material, controlling the movement of the suction device, sucking the front end of the sheet material, and transferring the sheet material to a belt conveyer. CONSTITUTION:Sheet material 1 is stacked and placed on a paper sheet feed table 10. When the feed of the sheet material 1 is started, a sheet material suction device 20 turns about the tip of a stopper 21 clockwise in the direction B to suck 24 the sheet material 1 and the sheet material 1 is folded. A sheet material suction device 30 then turns clockwise in the direction C and sucks the reverse side of the folded sheet material 1. A friction member 39 at the tip of an arm 31 of the suction device 30 is made to press-contact. If duplication of the sheet material is detected, a gap is made to form between the duplicated sheets by swinging a suction part 24 via flexible duct 23. A second and succeeding sheets are separated by retracting the arm 31. The first sheet is transferred from the suction device 20 via a holding device 40 to a belt conveyer 50. Duplicate feed is thus prevented.
