Abstract

PURPOSE:To completely reproduce a pair of two continuous fields, and to correctly decode them by constituting the titled device so that a track in which two continuous fields have been recorded is brought to ON-tracking by a reproducing head at the time of variable speed reproducing mode. CONSTITUTION:An analog video signal which has been inputted from an input terminal 1 is quantized to 8 bits per sample in an A/D converter 2 and the number of bits is reduced to 4 bits per sample by a cosine conversion DCT encoder 4. At the time of variable speed reproducing mode, a dynamic tracking servo is applied so that a track in which two continuous fields have been recorded is brought to ON-tracking by a reproducing head. Subsequently, said signal is returned to its original signal of 8 bits per sample by a DCT decoder 10, and thereafter, a block is dismantled by a frame memory 11 and said signal is returned to its original time series signal, and in the end, it is converted to an analog video signal by a D/A converter 12, and outputted from an output terminal 13.
