Abstract
PURPOSE:To contrive the solution of troubles such as scumming, defective build-up of an ink and defective adhesion of transferred silver, by a method wherein a photosensitive planographic plate comprising a fine powder with a specified average particle diameter in at least one layer is made by a silver complex salt diffusion transfer process, and then printing is conducted by using a dampening liquid comprising a polymer of a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive planographic plate comprises a fine powder with an average particle diameter of 2-10mum in at least one of a silver halide emulsion layer, an undercoat layer and the like. The fine powder may be, for example, a fine powder of titanium oxide, zinc oxide, barium sulfate, silica, talc, Ziegelite or a starch, among which particularly preferred is slica. The amount of the fine powder is about 5-50pts.wt. based on a binder. A dampening liquid comprises a polymer of formula I, the average molecular weight of the polymer is at least 600, and Z comprises propylene oxide constituting at least 50wt.% of the polymer. The reference amount of the polymer being used is about 0.1-50g per liter of the dampening liquid.
