Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the freedom degree in design and mounting position of an exhaust muffler by forming a plurality of unit elements through which a communication pipe passes inside a case body having a muffling chamber formed therein and forming an exhaust muffler wherein a plurality of unit elements is connected to each other via the communication passage in series. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust muffler 11 mounted on a vehicle 12 is formed by connecting a plurality of unit elements 15 in series to each other. A pipe 14 is inserted through each of the unit elements 15 each consisting of a hollow case 13 of a muffling chamber 13a is connected to each other in train. That is, each of the cases 13 has the inner soft layer 17 thereof piled on the outer hard layer 16. Each of the pipes 14 through the cases 13 projects therefrom at ends, is stuck to the opposed ends of each of the cases 13 with an end board 18 and has a plurality of holes 14a formed in the middle to open to the muffling chamber 13a. The exhaust muffler 11 is constituted in such a way that the pipes 14 passing through the unit elements 15 adjacent to each other are connected to each other.
