Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten rise time by providing a switching element for turning one and off DC input supplied through a low voltage coil of a transformer to apply high voltage output generated on a high voltage coil of the transformer in turning on said element to a discharge load. CONSTITUTION:A DC power supply 1, a switch 2 and a switching element 4 are connected in series to a low voltage coil 31 of a transformer 3 consisting of the low voltage coil and a high voltage coil to apply high voltage output generated in the high voltage coil 32 to a discharge load 6 in turning on the switching element 4 which is constituted from a MOS type field-effect transistor for example to be controlled through a drive circuit 9 by a control circuit 11. The control circuit 11 is provided with a pulse width control circuit or the like to controllably stop the switching motion of switching element 4 on the basis of the output signal of a detector 12 for detecting the discharge load 6 starting the self-propagation of fire flame.
