Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [n is 0W5; R1 represents lower alkyl, halogen atom., lower haloalkyl or lower alkoxy; R2 and R3 represent H or lower alkyl; R4 represents H or lower alkyl; R5 represents H, lower alkyl or halogen atom.; R4 and R5 may link with -(CH2)m- to form cyclic structure; m is 3 or 4; R6 represents H, straight-chain alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkenyloxy, etc.] and salts thereof.
EXAMPLE: 2-(6-m-Chlorophenyl-2-pyridyl)-4-methylpyrimidine.
USE: A controlling agent for plant blights.
PREPARATION: A halopyrimidine derivative expressed by formula II (X represents halogen atom.) is brought into contact and reduced with hydrogen gas, for example in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst at ambient temperature W50°C for 0.5W3hr.
