Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct and update a data base with high reliability by measuring a change in the color of an insulating layer with a photodetection probe which is embedded in the insulating layer or fitted to the outer periphery of the insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:A main insulating layer 3 is impregnated with epoxy resin after the photodetection probe 4 is set. Then the illumination optical fiber 5 of the probe 5 is connected to a standard light source 6 and the photodetection optical fiber is connected to a photoelectric converting element 8, whose output is inputted to a color specification arithmetic part 9. Further, the output of a function generation part 10 stored with a change in color and the deterioration degree of the insulating layer which are found preliminarily and the output of the arithmetic part 9 are inputted to a deterioration degree and remaining life arithmetic part 11, whose output is displayed on a warning and display part 12. Then when the temperature of a coil rises by the operation of equipment, the epoxy resin with which the main insulating layer 3 is impregnated changes its color. This color change state is detected by irradiating the main insulating layer 3 with light from the light source 6 through the optical fiber 5 and photodetecting its reflected light by the element 8.
