Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display device in which the area of an image element aperture part is set almost equal to a liquid crystal driving area by removing a gap part between a liquid crystal driving electrode part and an electrode wiring part and a TFT element part. CONSTITUTION:The exposure of a resist at the time of patterning the liquid crystal driving electrode part is performed from the back plane of a substrate setting the TFT element 2 and electrode wirings 3 and 6 as a mask. And structure possible to perform the patterning by self-alignment is employed. Therefore, it is possible to perform the patterning on all available areas in the image element aperture part, and to use most of the image element aperture part as the liquid crystal driving part. In other words, the gap part by the alignment accuracy of the liquid crystal driving part, the electrode wiring part, and the TFT element part can be removed substantially. In such a way, the area of the image element aperture pat can be set almost equal to the liquid crystal driving area, then, a high contrast ratio as a liquid crystal display can be obtained.
