Abstract

CONSTITUTION:The beam focused by an objective lens 4 is radiated onto the recording disk 5 and its reflected light passes through the objective lens 4 and a beam splitter 3 or the like again and comes to the position (c). The beam (c) is used to detect an error signal for focus and tracking control and to reproduce the information. Then the unarrival of the rotating speed of the recording disk 5 to a prescribed speed is detected by a speed detector 7 and the focus control mode by the drive of a drive amplifier 8 for focus control is inhibited to retract the objective lens and the energy density is lowered so as to form defocus on the medium. Thus, the destruction of the medium is prevented and the reliability of the device is improved.
