Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a negative electrode for lithium secondary battery with excellent charging/discharging characteristic and mass-productivity by using Al-Mg-In alloy as a negative electrode alloy carrier which lithium is occluded in and discharged from. CONSTITUTION:Al is used as main material, to which Mg and In are added to from an alloy carrier, and Li is occluded therein to accomplish a lithium alloy negative electrode. Content of Mg (concentration) shall preferably by no more than 3wt.% in order to obtain a stable sheet which sustains mass- production. As In has small strength and is liable to deform due to Li occlusion as well as costly, the amount of In shall be rather discreet in such a degree as drawing out the effect of Al sufficiently. Such amount will be 5wt.% or less.
