Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable performance excellent in saturation magnetization, coercive force and the rectangular properties of a hysteresis loop by forming the macrostructure of a cast ingot in a columnar crystal at a specific volume ratio or more in a magnet composed of an alloy mainly comprising a rare earth element and a transition metal. CONSTITUTION:50vol.% or more or the macrostructure of a cast ingot is shaped in columnar crystals. The temperature of a bath is elevated to the melting point of a molten alloy +320 deg.C, thus bringing the columnar crystals to the following rate or more. That is, it is desirable that the macrostructure is changed into the columnar crystals at a volume ratio of 50% or more, and it is more preferable that it is turned into the columnar crystals at the volume ratio of 70% or more.
