Abstract

PURPOSE:To compare a plurality of the images of a wavelength region developing large difference such that a normal part can be easily discriminated from a lesion part with a general color image to investigate the same, by providing a means capable of performing observation in the indivisual optimum exposure by selecting the specific wavelengths different in reflectivity or transmissivity in the mucosa of a living body and a means capable of observing a usual color image. CONSTITUTION:A lamp 12 emits light and, after the optimum exposure level is controlled by the throttle 48 present in a light path, color separation is performed in a time series manner by disc-shaped rotary filters 14 having transmitting regions in wavelength regions of R, G and B and the separated lights are condensed by a condensing lens 16 to be incident to the incident end surface of a light guide 9. The color lights R, G, B are transmitted through the light guide 9 to be allowed to irradiate the region to be observed in the body cavity from the leading end part of the insert part 8 of an electronic endoscope 2. When switch circuits 37, 38, 39 are turned ON by an image selection circuit 44, images of the wavelength regions of R, G and B are synthesized by an adder circuit 41 and the synthesized image is outputted to a TV monitor 7 as a monochromatic signal to display a monochromatic image. When a switch circuit 43 is turned ON, RGB signals are directly outputted to the TV monitor 7 to display a color image.
