Abstract

PURPOSE:To pass a metal hot dipped steel strip correctly in the central part of wiping nozzles without vibrating the same by providing electromagnets, magnetism shielding plates and displacement meters for the steel strip on both sides of the steel strip to be passed between the wiping nozzles at the time of uniformizing the quantity of the plating metal by means of said nozzles. CONSTITUTION:The deposition of the molten metal on the steel strip 1 which is drawn out of a metal hot dipping bath and is stuck with the molten metal on the surfaces is uniformized by the gas injection from the wiping nozzles 3, 3 disposed on both sides of the steel strip 1. The electromagnets 6, 7 and the magnetism shielding plates 9, 10 as well as the displacement meters 16 for the steel strip 1 are provided on both sides of the steel strip 1. The deviation in the pass position is measured by the displacement meter 16 if the steel strip 1 passing between the nozzles deviates from the central position. The quantity of the magnetism shielding from the central position of the respective magnetism shielding plates 9, 10 with respect to the electromagnets 6, 7 is then computed in such a manner that the deviation is decreased to 0. The two shielding plates 9, 10 are rotated by a servo motor 13 to adjust the attraction force of the steel strip by the two electromagnets 6, 7, by which the position of the steel strip 1 is adjusted to the center of the wiping nozzles. The deposition of the molten metal by the wiping nozzles is thus uniformized.
