Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the stoppage of braking operation even when supply power temporarily disappears by conducting rheostatic brake control in the case where AC power dissipates when regenerative brake control is performed. CONSTITUTION:When supply power fed from stringing dissipates by the separation, etc., of a pantagraph during regenerative brake operation, an operation command signal S is output from a supply-power dissipation detector 40. A gate for a thyristor in a converter 11 for an armature is turned OFF by the operation command signal S. On the other hand, a thyristor switch 51 is turned ON, and braking currents fed from the armature 16 are flowed through a resistor 52 for a rheostatic brake. Since a motor generator 23 continues to be rotated by inertia at that time, power fed to a converter 31 for a field and an air blower 24 is not dissipated quickly.
