Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a burner against damage due to application of an undue force by detecting the pressure being applied to the forward end of the burner thereby regulating the inclination angle thereof. CONSTITUTION: A burner 1 is advanced into a material 3 by a specified depth. A limit switch 26 in a detection mechanism 10 is actuated and a downward pressure is applied to the burner 1 the material 1 dissolves to descend gradually as the time elapses. When the pressure exceeds the urging force of a spring 28, a limit switch 25 is actuated through a lever 22 and a crank 24. Consequently, a controller operates to start a power cylinder 15 thus inclining the burner 1 through a guide 8. When the force is removed from the burner 1, the limit switch 26 is actuated again to stop the cylinder 15. That state is repeated and when the upper limit inclination angle of 70 deg.C is reached, forward end of the burner 1 is lifted temporarily above the surface of the material 3 by means of a motor 15 and then the inclination angle is reset to the lower limit before the burner 1 is inserted again.
