Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute a multitrack and bidirectional recording and reproducing with a simple constitution by guiding a magnetic head to the intermediate position of a reverse range by a moving means for switching tracks and a rotating means and deciding the direction of a reverse from the intermediate position of the magnetic head by the moving means and an energizing means. CONSTITUTION:By utilizing a track switching gear 16 as the moving means for switching the tracks, a magnetic head 10 is guided to the intermediate position of the reverse range by means of the gear 16 and a cam 21 as the rotating means. By the gear 16 and a reversing spring 20 as the energizing means, the direction of the reverse from the intermediate position of the magnetic head 10 is decided. Consequently, the magnetic head 10 can be reversed by the simple mechanism. The magnetic head 10 is reversed and, simultaneously, the magnetic head 10 can be moved in the width direction of a magnetic tape. Thus, the magnetic head 10 can execute the multitrack recording and reproducing and reciprocating recording and reproducing, even by the simple constitution of a single channel.
