Abstract

PURPOSE:To repair the skull without loosing aesthetic appearance, by providing an almost spherical shape for the prosthesis of the omitted part of the skull and forming a plurality of projections to the outer peripheral part thereof. CONSTITUTION:An artificial skull member 1 may be made of a ceramic material such as alumina or apatite or a metal material such as stainless steel, a Co-Cr- Mo alloy, pure titanium or a titanium alloy. This artificial skull member 1 forms a spherical shell shape so as to be more fitted to the round shape of the head and a plurality of projections 2 are integrally formed to the required part of the peripheral edge part thereof. Further, these projections 2 are engaged with the natural skull B in the state mounted on the skull B and the depression of the artificial skull member into the periosteum (cerebral venticle) is prevented.
