Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform continuous processing at a high speed by simple operation, by a method wherein processing is continued as it is when the paper or sheets taken two at a time are detected by a count apparatus and present at a part other than the gap between bundles but stopped when they are present between the bundles. CONSTITUTION:When two bank notes P are simultaneously taken out by a suction rotary drum 11a, a detection apparatus 17 and a count apparatus 19 count the bank notes P as two and add the number of the bank notes to accumulate the same on the backup member 15c of an accumulation apparatus 15 as a lump of two bank notes. Since the order of a number is regular and counting is correctly performed at this time, processing may be continued in the same way as that taken when one bank note P is taken out. Further, since a number is also always confirmed by a number reading apparatus 18, there is no problem. However, when '100' bank notes P and '101' bank notes P are taken out in a stacked state, the separation at every 100 bank notes by the separator 15d of the accumulation apparatus 15 can not be performed. Therefore, a machine stops the suction rotary drum 11a immediately and, when all of the bank notes P present on a feed passage 16 are accumulated on the backup member 15c, the whole of the machine is stopped.
