Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare a crosslinked polymer molding which is excellent in heat resistance, by the bulk polymn. of a metathetically polymerizable monomer contg. a Diels-Alder addition product of a specified cycloolefin and cyclopentadiene in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A Diels-Alder addition product is prepared by reacting a 6-9C cycloolefin consisting of a 6-9-membered monocyclic or bicyclic ring having two carbon-carbon double bonds which are non-conjugated with each other and not having a strong metathetical polymerizability in itself (e.g., 1,4- cyclohexadiene) and cyclopentadiene in a ratio of 1:2. A metathetically polymerizable monomer which is at least partially polyfunctional (e.g., vinylnorbornene) is submitted to a bulk polymn. by using said addition product as at least part of the metathetically polymerizable monomer in the presence of a metathetical polymn. catalyst system to give the object crosslinked polymer molding.
