Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to decrease markedly the glass transition temperature of the obtained polycarbonate, by introducing a combination of 1,6- hexanediol with 1,5-pentanediol as a copolymer component at a specified ratio into a polycarbonate. CONSTITUTION:This aliphatic copolycarbonate consists of repeating units (A) of formula I and repeating units (B) of formula II, wherein the ratio of A to B is 9:1-6:4. When said copolycarbonate is to be used as a soft segment of, e.g., a polyurethane or a thermoplastic elastomer, it is desirable that it has a number-average MW of 700-3,000.
