Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a multiply-connected printing to be always carried out with a suitable mode, by a method wherein, when printing data is outputted from a buffer memory, first mode information of an outputted line is compared with second mode information of a preceding line outputted just before, and a function code corresponding to the first mode information is added to the top of the data if the both are not coincident. CONSTITUTION:Printing data for every page in the same line are continuously outputted from buffer memories 5, 6. At this time, a function mode of the line end of a page which was outputted prior to the output of the same line and stored in a register 19 is compared with a function mode of the line head of a page to be outputted next. If the both are same, the printing data is outputted as it is; if different, a function code designating the cancel of the function mode for the preceding line or the start of a new function mode is added to the top of the data so that the function mode of the line head is forcedly designated. The addition of the function code in this manner enables the printing data for two or more pages to be horizontally printed in alignment on a paper with a suitable mode.
