Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve recording speed by providing a means for detection of all white lines, each one of which is non-recording data, a counting means for counting all the continuous white lines and a control means for changing the feed value of a recording element in accordance with the numerical value of said counting means. CONSTITUTION:First a control part 2 demands a host computer 1 to transfer a single line of data, and a single line of image data is output from the computer 1. This data is stored in an image memory 3. At that time, when a black dot identification circuit 4 detects black dots in the line, the former outputs a detection signal 20 to the control part 2. However, unless the black dots are detected, said circuit returns a storage address for image data of the memory 3 to its original location and adds 1 to the count of counters 2-1 in RAM of the control part 2. This action is repeated until a single line of image data containing black dots is entered and thereby all the white lines are counted. When feeding a recording medium, this numerical value is added to the feed value of said medium to change the feed value.
