Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide three-layered vitamin C tablets of good taste by adding calcium pantothenate to ascorbic acid, thus reducing the amount of sugars employed and minimizing the diameter of the tablets with weakened acidic taste. CONSTITUTION:The objective tablets are produced by using ascorbic acid and calcium pantothenate as active ingredients and tableting in a known manner. Each tablet is three-layered, and the core layer is composed, based on the total weight of each tablet, 35-45wt.% of ascorbic acid, 4-5wt.% of white sugar, 0.5-2.0wt.% of carboxymethylcellulose and 0.3-10wt.% of hydroxypropylcellulose, while both outer layers are composed of 0.3-1.2wt.% of calcium pantothenate, 35-45wt.% of white sugar and 0.3-1.0wt.% of hydroxypropylcellulose. The weight ratio of the first layer to the third layer is made 1/1-1/6.
