Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I [Z is group shown by formula II or formula III; n is 1W3; R is H, halogen, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, CF3 or -CO2R' (R' is H, alkali metal or lower alkyl); R1WR4 are H or acyl].
EXAMPLE: (22S,23S)-2α,3α,22,23-Tetrahydroxy-23-phenyl-B-homo-7-oxa-5α,-24-nor chol-one.
USE: A plant growth regulator.
PREPARATION: An aldehyde shown by formula IV is alkenylated to synthesize a compound shown by formula V. The this compound is oxidized and hydrolyzed to synthesize a compound shown by formula VI. Optionally this compound is acylated to produced a steroid, which is lactonized.
