Description
Claims (36)
- 엔진에서 배출되는 배기가스에 함유된 성분들을 정화하기 위해 사용되는 필터용 기재를 포함하는 배기가스 정화장치에 있어서,상기 필터용 기재는 통로들을 형성하며 소정의 평균 크기를 갖는 미세기공(fine pore)을 갖는 다공재로 형성된 격벽을 가지며, 기재의 통로 각각의 부분을 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분(end portion)들은 서로 부분적으로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며, 상기 테이퍼진 단부부분들은 대응하는 통로의 단부개구(end opening)를 부분적으로 폐쇄하며 그 팁에 의해 한정된 작은 구멍(small hole)을 형성하고, 작은 구멍 각각의 크기는 대응하는 통로의 단면적 보다 작고 격벽의 미세기공의 크기 보다 큰 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 기재의 통로 일부를 각각 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분들은 그 상류측 단부에서 서로 부분적으로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며, 기재의 나머지 통로 각각을 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분은 그 하류측 단부에서 서로 부분적으로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 테이퍼진 단부부분 및 나머지 격벽은 미립자를 산화하기 위한 산화제를 운반하고, 각각의 상류측 테이퍼진 단부부분에 의해 운반되는 단위체적당 산화제의 양은 각각의 하류측 테이퍼진 단부부분에 의해 운반되는 단위체적당 산화제의 양보다 많은 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 기재의 통로 일부를 각각 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분들은 그 상류측 단부에서 서로 부분적으로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며, 기재의 나머지 통로 각각을 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분은 그 하류측 단부에서 서로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며, 통로의 하류측 단부개구가 완전히 폐쇄되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 기재의 통로 일부를 각각 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분들은 그 하류측 단부에서 서로 부분적으로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며, 기재의 나머지 통로 각각을 한정하는 인접한 격벽의 단부부분들은 그 상류측 단부에서 서로 연결되어 기재의 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며, 통로의 상류측 단부개구가 완전히 폐쇄되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 필터용 기재는 엔진에서 배출되는 배기가스에 함유된 미립자를 수집하기 위해 엔진의 배기가스 통로에 배치되는 미립자 필터로서 사용되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 테이퍼진 단부부분들은 미립자를 산화하기 위해 산화제를 운반하는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제7항에 있어서, 각각의 테이퍼진 단부부분에 의해 그 상류측 표면에서 단위면적당 운반되는 산화제의 양은 그 하류측 표면에서 단위면적당 운반되는 산화제의 양보다 많은 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제7항에 있어서, 필터승온수단에 의해 필터의 온도를 상승시키기 위한 과정이 수행되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제7항에 있어서, 필터는 과다 산소가 필터 주위에 존재할 때 질소산화물을 흡수하여 운반하며 산소 농도가 감소될 때 소유한 질소산화물을 배출하는 NOx 운반제(carrying agent)를 구비하는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제7항에 있어서, 필터는 귀금속 촉매를 구비하는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제11항에 있어서, 상기 산화제는 과다 산소가 산화제 주위에 존재할 때 산소를 흡수하여 운반하며 산소 농도가 감소될 때 활성산소의 형태로 소유한 산소를 배출하는 활성산소 생성제이고, 상기 활성산소 생성제는 미립자가 필터에 부착될 때 활성산소로써 필터에 부착된 미립자를 산화하기 위해 활성산소를 배출하는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제12항에 있어서, 상기 활성산소 생성제는 알칼리 금속, 알칼리 토류금속, 희토류 금속 및 천이금속 중 하나를 포함하는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제12항에 있어서, 상기 활성산소 생성제는 알칼리 금속, 및 칼슘 보다 이온화 경향이 높은 알칼리 토류 금속 중 하나를 포함하는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제12항에 있어서, 필터내로 흐르는 배기가스의 적어도 일부의 공연비는 필터에 부착되는 미립자를 산화하기 위해 일시적으로 리치로 만들어지는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제6항에 있어서, 배기가스내에 함유된 성분들을 산화하기 위한 산화수단이 엔진의 배기가스 통로에서 필터의 상류측에 배치되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제16항에 있어서, 상기 산화수단은 산화촉매인 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제16항에 있어서, 상기 산화수단은 린 배기가스가 산화수단내로 흐를 때 질소산화물(N0x)을 운반하며 리치 배기가스가 흐를 때 소유한 질소산화물을 환원시키는 NOx 촉매인 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제6항에 있어서, 필터의 저온영역에 있는 필터의 작은 구멍 각각의 사이즈는 필터의 고온영역에 있는 작은 구멍의 사이즈 보다 큰 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제19항에 있어서, 상기 저온영역은 필터의 주변영역이고, 상기 고온영역은 필터의 중앙영역인 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제19항에 있어서, 필터의 저온영역에 있는 필터의 각각의 통로의 단면적은 필터의 고온영역에 있는 각각의 통로의 단면적 보다 큰 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제6항에 있어서, 필터의 저온영역에 있는 필터의 각각의 통로의 단면적은 필터의 고온영역에 있는 각각의 통로의 단면적 보다 큰 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제22항에 있어서, 상기 저온영역은 필터의 주변영역이고, 상기 고온영역은 필터의 중앙영역인 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제22항에 있어서, 필터의 저온영역에 있는 필터의 작은 구멍 각각의 사이즈는 필터의 고온영역에 있는 작은 구멍의 사이즈 보다 큰 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제6항에 있어서, 배기가스내에 함유된 성분들을 정화하기 위한 배기가스 정화수단은 엔진의 배기가스 통로에서 필터의 하류측에 배치되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제25항에 있어서, 상기 배기가스 정화수단은 린 배기가스가 유입할 때 질소산화물을 운반하며 적어도 대체로 화학량론 배기가스가 유입할 때 소유한 질소산화물을 감소시키는 NOx 촉매인 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제25항에 있어서, 상기 배기가스 정화수단은 배기가스에 함유된 미립자를 산화시킬 수 있는 보조 미립자 필터인 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제25항에 있어서, 상기 필터가 적어도 배기 매니폴드 부근에 배치되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제25항에 있어서, 상기 정화장치는 배기가스 정화수단을 우회하기 위해 필터와 배기가스 정화수단 사이의 엔진 배기가스 통로로부터 배기가스 정화수단 하류측의 엔진 배기가스 통로까지 연장하는 바이패스 통로와, 배기가스의 흐름을 배기가스 정화수단과 바이패스 통로로 전환하기 위한 전환 밸브를 추가로 포함하고, 상기 필터는 린 배기가스가 유입할 때 황산화물(SOx)을 운반하며 적어도 대체로 화학량론 배기가스가 유입할 때 소유한 황산화물을 방출하는 SOx 운반제를 구비하고, 상기 SOx 운반제의 온도는 SOx 방출온도 보다 높은 온도를 가지며, 상기 전환 밸브는 황산화물이 SOx 운반제에서 방출되지 않을 때 배기가스가 배기가스 정화수단으로 유입하며 황산화물이 SOx 운반제에서 방출될 때 배기가스가 바이패스 통로로 유입하도록 배치되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제29항에 있어서, 배기가스에 함유된 성분들을 산화하기 위한 촉매가 바이패스 통로에 배치되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 필터용 기재가 엔진의 배기가스 통로에 배치되고, 상기 기재가 엔진에서 배출된 배기가스에 함유된 미연소 탄화수소를 수집하기 위한 탄화수소 수집제(hydrocarbon collection agent)와, 미연소 탄화수소를 정화하기 위한 탄화수소 정화촉매를 구비하고, 상기 탄화수소 수집제는 이 수집제의 온도가 탄화수소 방출 온도 보다 낮을 때 미연소 탄화수소를 수집하며 이 수집제의 온도가 탄화수소 방출 온도 보다 높을 때 수집된 미연소 탄화수소를 방출하고, 상기 탄화수소 정화 촉매는 이 촉매의 온도가 탄화수소 정화 온도 보다 높을 때 미연소 탄화수소를 정화하고, 상기 탄화수소 방출 온도는 탄화수소 정화 촉매의 온도가 탄화수소 정화 온도 보다 낮을 때 탄화수소 수집제로부터 미연소 탄화수소가 방출되도록 설정되는 배기가스 정화장치.
- 엔진에서 배출된 배기가스에 함유된 성분들을 정화하는데 사용되는 필터용 기재를 제조하는 방법으로서, 상기 필터용 기재는 다공재로 형성된 격벽에 의해 한정된 다수의 배기가스 통로를 가지며, 배기가스 통로 일부를 각각 한정하는 격벽의 단부부분(end portion)들은 배기가스 통로의 한 단부에서 서로 부분적으로 연결되어 그 단부가 기재 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며 팁에 의해 작은 구멍을 한정하게 되고, 나머지 배기가스 통로 각각을 한정하는 격벽의 단부부분들은 배기가스 통로의 다른 단부에서 부분적으로 연결되어 그 단부가 기재 외측을 향해 테이퍼지며 팁에 의해 작은 구멍을 한정하게 되는 기재 제조방법에 있어서,상기 방법은 각각의 배기가스 통로를 한정하는 격벽의 단부부분들을 끌어모아서 그 단부개구가 폐쇄되도록 연결하는 단계와, 그 단부개구에서 폐쇄되도록 각각의 배기가스 통로를 한정하는 격벽의 단부의 팁에 의해 한정된 작은 구멍을 형성하는 단계를 포함하고, 각각의 작은 구멍은 대응하는 배기가스 통로의 단부개구의 면적 보다 작고 격벽의 미세구멍의 평균 사이즈 보다 큰 사이즈를 갖는 제조방법.
- 제32항에 있어서, 상기 격벽의 단부부분들을 끌어모아 연결하는 단계와 작은 구멍 형성 단계는 동시에 실행되는 제조방법.
- 제33항에 있어서, 상기 격벽의 단부부분들을 끌어모아 연결하는 단계와 작은 구멍 형성 단계는 다수의 돌출부와 이 돌출부 사이에 배치된 다수의 핀을 갖는 디바이스를 기재의 단부면에 가압함으로써 동시에 실행되는 제조방법.
- 제32항에 있어서, 먼저 상기 격벽의 단부부분들을 끌어모아 연결하는 단계가 실행되고 다음에 작은 구멍 형성단계가 실행되는 제조방법.
- 제35항에 있어서, 상기 작은 구멍 형성단계에서 서로 연결된 단부의 팁을 세단하여 작은 구멍을 형성하는 제조방법.
