Claims (27)
- 변형가능 영역을 가지는 표면을 정의하는 장치의 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법으로서,
상기 표면의 상기 변형가능 영역을, 상기 표면과 촉각으로 구별될 수 있는 형태로 변형하는 단계;
상기 표면의 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역에서 사용자로부터의 힘을 검출하는 단계;
상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을, 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역의 견고성에 대한 명령으로서 해석하는 단계; 및
상기 명령에 근거하여 상기 표면의 상기 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 조작하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 표면의 변형가능 영역을 변형하는 단계는, 상기 표면과 촉각으로 구별될 수 있는 상기 표면의 상승된 부분을 형성하도록 상기 표면으로부터 외측으로 상기 변형가능 영역을 팽창시키는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역의 견고성에 대한 명령으로서 해석하는 단계는, 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역의 변형 정도에 대한 명령으로서 상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제3항에 있어서,
상기 변형 정도에 대한 명령으로서 상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을 해석하는 단계는, 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역에 대한 크기를 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 표면의 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역에서 사용자로부터의 힘을 검출하는 단계는, 상기 표면의 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역을 내측으로 변형시키는 사용자로부터의 힘을 검출하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을 명령으로서 해석하는 단계는, 상기 표면의 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 증가시키도록 하는 명령으로서 상기 힘을 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 촉각 인터페이스층은 제2 변형가능 영역을 더 포함하고,
상기 방법은, 상기 제2 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 조정하도록 하는 명령으로서 상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을 해석하는 단계를 더 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제7항에 있어서,
상기 표면의 상기 제2 변형가능 영역을 상기 표면과 촉각으로 구별될 수 있는 형태로 변형하는 단계를 더 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제7항에 있어서,
상기 제1 변형가능 영역에서의 힘을 명령으로서 해석하는 단계는, 상기 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 증가시키도록 하는 명령 및 상기 제2 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 감소시키도록 하는 명령으로서 상기 힘을 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 촉각 인터페이스층은, 상기 표면의 변형가능 영역들을 변형하도록 조작되는 유체를 포함하고,
상기 명령에 근거하여 상기 표면의 상기 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 조작하는 단계는, 상기 촉각 인터페이스층 내의 유체의 용적을 조작하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제10항에 있어서,
상기 촉각 인터페이스층 내의 유체의 용적을 조작하는 단계는, 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역의 견고성을 증가시키도록 상기 촉각 인터페이스층 내의 유체의 압력을 증가시키는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 장치에 대한 명령으로서 상기 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을 해석하는 단계를 더 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제12항에 있어서,
상기 장치에 대한 명령은 일정 범위의 값들 중에서 선택되고, 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역의 견고성에 대한 명령으로서 상기 변형가능 영역에서의 힘을 해석하는 단계는, 상기 범위의 값들에 대한 상기 명령의 상기 변형된 변형가능 영역 값의 견고성을 결정하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제13항에 있어서,
상기 장치에 대한 상기 범위의 값들은 상기 장치에 대한 낮은 용적에서부터 높은 용적까지 일정 범위의 용적을 포함하고, 상기 범위의 값들에 대한 상기 명령의 상기 값에 근거하여 견고성을 결정하는 단계는, 높은 용적에 대해 견고성을 증가시키고 낮은 용적에 대해 견고성을 감소시키는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역을 가지는 표면을 정의하는 장치의 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법으로서,
상기 표면의 상기 제1 변형가능 영역을, 상기 표면과 촉각으로 구별 가능한 형태로 변형시키는 단계;
상기 표면의 변형된 제1 변형가능 영역에서 사용자로부터의 힘을 검출하는 단계;
상기 제1 변형가능 영역에서의 상기 힘을, 상기 제1 변형가능 영역을 복원시키고 상기 제2 변형가능 영역을 상기 표면과 촉각으로 구별될 수 있는 형태로 변형시키도록 하는 명령으로서 해석하는 단계; 및
상기 명령에 근거하여 상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역을 조작하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제15항에 있어서,
상기 표면의 변형가능 영역을 변형시키는 단계는, 상기 표면과 촉각으로 구별될 수 있는 상기 표면의 상승된 부분을 형성하도록, 상기 변형가능 영역을 상기 표면으로부터 외측으로 팽창시키는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제15항에 있어서,
상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역들의 복원 및 변형은 실질적으로 점진적인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제17항에 있어서,
상기 제1 및 제2 영역들을 각각 복원 및 변형시키도록 하는 명령으로서 상기 제1 변형된 영역에서의 힘을 해석하는 단계는, 상기 제1 변형된 영역 상에서 검출된 상기 힘에 근거하여, 각각 상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역의 복원 및 변형의 정도를 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제18항에 있어서,
상기 명령에 근거하여 상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역을 조작하는 단계는, 상기 제1 변형가능 영역을 상기 해석된 정도로 복원시키고 상기 제2 변형가능 영역을 상기 해석된 정도로 변형시키는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제18항에 있어서,
상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역에 대한 복원 및 변형 정도를 해석하는 단계는, 상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역에 대한 완전 변형의 퍼센트를 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제20항에 있어서,
퍼센트를 해석하는 단계는, 상기 제1 변형가능 영역에 대한 제1 퍼센트 및 상기 제2 변형가능 영역에 대한 제2 퍼센트를 해석하는 단계를 포함하고, 상기 제1 및 제2 퍼센트의 합은 100인 것인, 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제18항에 있어서,
상기 검출된 힘에 근거하여 복원 및 변형 정도를 해석하는 단계는, 힘이 검출되는 시간의 길이에 근거하여 상기 정도를 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제18항에 있어서,
상기 검출된 힘에 근거하여 복원 및 변형 정도를 해석하는 단계는, 상기 검출된 힘의 크기에 근거하여 상기 정도를 해석하는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제15항에 있어서,
실질적으로 동시에 상기 제1 변형가능 영역은 복원되고 상기 제2 변형가능 영역은 변형되는 것인, 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제15항에 있어서,
상기 촉각 인터페이스층은, 상기 표면의 변형가능 영역들을 변형시키도록 조작되는 유체를 포함하고, 상기 명령에 근거하여 상기 제1 및 제2 변형가능 영역들을 조작하는 단계는, 상기 제1 변형가능 영역을 복원시키도록 상기 제1 변형가능 영역 하부의 유체의 용적을 감소시키고 상기 제2 변형가능 영역을 변형시키도록 상기 제2 변형가능 영역 하부의 유체의 용적을 증가시키는 단계를 포함하는 촉각 인터페이스층을 구동하는 방법. - 제15항에 있어서,
