Abstract
Description
Claims (12)
- 양성 유전 이방성(positive dielectric anisotropy)을 가지며, 하기 성분을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질:
a) 하나 이상의 하기 화학식 I의 화합물:
[상기 식에서,
n은 0 또는 1을 나타내고,
R11은 H, F, Cl, 1 내지 20개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 직쇄 또는 분지형 알킬 쇄(이때 하나의 -CH2- 기 또는 복수 개의 -CH2- 기는 -O-, -C(=O)- 또는 로 대체될 수 있지만, 2개의 인접한 -CH2- 기는 -O-로 대체될 수 없다), 사이클로알칸다이일 유닛 또는 알킬사이클로알칸다이일 유닛을 함유하는 탄화수소 라디칼(이때 하나의 -CH2- 기 또는 복수 개의 -CH2- 기는 -O- 또는 -C(=O)-로 대체될 수 있지만, 2개의 인접한 -CH2- 기는 -O-로 대체될 수 없다)을 나타내고,
R12는 H, F, Cl, CN, CF3, OCF3 또는 1 내지 20개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 직쇄 또는 분지형 알킬 쇄(이때 하나의 -CH2- 기 또는 복수 개의 -CH2- 기는 -O- 또는 -C(=O)- 로 대체될 수 있지만, 2개의 인접한 -CH2- 기는 -O-로 대체될 수 없다)를 나타내고,
Y1은 H, F, Cl, CN, CF3, OCF3 또는 1 내지 20개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 직쇄 또는 분지형 알킬 쇄(이때 하나의 -CH2- 기 또는 복수 개의 -CH2- 기는 -O- 또는 -C(=O)- 로 대체될 수 있지만, 2개의 인접한 -CH2- 기는 -O-로 대체될 수 없다)를 나타내고,
는
각각의 경우에, 서로 독립적으로,
를 나타내고, 이때, 사이클로헥산다이일 및 사이클로헥센다이일 유닛의 경우, 하나 이상의 H 원자는 서로 독립적으로 F, Cl 또는 CN으로 대체될 수도 있다], 및
b) 하기 화학식 II 및 III의 화합물의 군으로부터 선택되는 하나 이상의 화합물:

X2 및 X3은, 서로 독립적으로, 할로겐, 1 내지 3개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 할로겐화된 알킬 또는 알콕시, 또는 2 내지 3개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 할로겐화된 알켄일 또는 알켄일옥시를 나타내고,
Z3은, -CH2CH2-, -CF2CF2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O- 또는 단일 결합을 나타내고,

Z41 및 Z42는, 서로 독립적으로, 및 Z41가 2회 발생하는 경우 이들 또한 서로 독립적으로, -CH2CH2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O-, -CF2O-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합을 나타내고,
p는 0, 1 또는 2을 나타낸다]. - 제 1 항에 있어서,

는, 각각의 경우 서로 독립적으로,
를 나타내고,
L21, L22, L31 및 L32는, 서로 독립적으로, H 또는 F를 나타내고,
X2 및 X3은, 서로 독립적으로, 할로겐, 1 내지 3개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 할로겐화된 알킬 또는 알콕시, 또는 2 또는 3개의 탄소 원자를 갖는 할로겐화된 알켄일 또는 알켄일옥시를 나타내고,

는, 서로 독립적으로, 및 가 2회 발생하는 경우 이들 또한 서로 독립적으로,
를 나타내고,
Z41 및 Z42는, 서로 독립적으로, 및 Z41가 2회 발생하는 경우 이들 또한 서로 독립적으로, -CH2CH2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O-, -CF2O-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합을 나타내고,
p는 0, 1 또는 2를 나타낸다. - 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
매질 내의 화학식 I의 화합물의 총 농도가 1 ppm 내지 20,000 ppm의 범위에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는, 액정 매질. - 제 1 항 내지 제 5 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
제 2 항에 기재된 화학식 II의 화합물을 하나 이상 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질. - 제 1 항 내지 제 6 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
제 2 항에 기재된 화학식 III의 화합물을 하나 이상 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질. - 제 1 항 내지 제 7 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
유전적으로 중성(dielectrically neutral)인 하기 화학식 V의 화합물을 하나 이상 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질:
상기 식에서,
R51 및 R52는, 서로 독립적으로, 제 2 항에서 화학식 II의 R2에 대해 기재된 의미를 갖고,
는, 각각의 경우 서로 독립적으로,
를 나타내고,
Z51 및 Z52는, 서로 독립적으로, 및 Z51이 2회 발생하는 경우 이들 또한 서로 독립적으로, -CH2CH2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O-, -CF2O- 또는 단일 결합을 나타내고,
r 은 0, 1 또는 2를 나타낸다. - 제 1 항 내지 제 8 항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 매질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제 9 항에 있어서,
능동(active) 매트릭스로 어드레싱되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이. - 제 1 항 내지 제 8 항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 매질의 액정 디스플레이에서의 용도.
- 제 1 항에 주어진 화학식 I의 화합물 하나 이상을 제 2 항 및 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에서 언급된 하나 이상의 화합물 및/또는 하나 이상의 추가의 메소젠성 화합물 및/또는 하나 이상의 첨가제와 혼합하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 제 1 항 내지 제 8 항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 매질의 제조 방법.
