Claims (9)
- 프레임 주파수(f)가 60Hz 이하로 구동되는 액정표시장치의 백라이트 유닛 디밍 제어방법에 있어서,
제1 디밍값을 이용하여 상기 백라이트 유닛을 구동하는 제1 단계;
상기 제1 디밍값 보다 높은 제2 디밍값을 이용하여 상기 백라이트 유닛을 구동하는 제2 단계를 포함하되,
상기 제1 단계 및 제2 단계는 교번하여 반복되고,
상기 프레임 주파수(f)의 한 주기(T) 내에서 상기 제2 단계의 반복 횟수는 “{(60/f)-1}”인 조건을 만족하는 백라이트 유닛의 디밍 제어방법.
이 때, k는 60이상 240 이하의 자연수. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 제1 단계는
한 주기의 시작 시점부터 첫 번째 제2 단계의 시작시점까지 상기 제1 디밍값으로 상기 백라이트 유닛을 구동하는 제1-1 단계; 및
상기 제2 단계의 사이 마다 상기 제1 디밍값으로 상기 백라이트 유닛을 구동하는 제1-2 단계를 포함하고,
상기 제1-2 단계들은 각각 동일한 기간 행해지는 백라이트 유닛의 디밍 제어방법. - 제 2 항에 있어서,
상기 제2 단계는
상기 제1-1 단계 직후에 상기 제2 디밍값으로 상기 백라이트 유닛을 제어하는 제2-1 단계; 및
첫 번째 상기 제1-2 단계 이후에 상기 제2 디밍값으로 상기 백라이트 유닛을 제어하는 제2-2 단계를 포함하고,
상기 제2-1 단계 기간은 상기 제2-2 단계 기간의 75%~90% 로 설정되는 백라이트 유닛의 디밍 제어방법. - 제 2 항에 있어서,
상기 제2 단계는
상기 제1-1 단계 직후에 상기 제2-1 디밍값으로 상기 백라이트 유닛을 제어하는 제2-1 단계; 및
첫 번째 상기 제1-2 단계 이후에 상기 제2-1 디밍값 보다 큰 제2-2 디밍값으로 상기 백라이트 유닛을 제어하는 제2-2 단계를 포함하고,
상기 제2-1 단계 및 제2-2 단계는 동일한 기간으로 설정되고, 상기 제2-1 디밍값은 상기 제1 디밍값 보다 크고 상기 제2-2 디밍값 보다 작게 설정되는 백라이트 유닛의 디밍 제어방법. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
첫 번째 상기 제1 단계를 수행하는 기간 및 상기 제1-2 단계를 수행하는 기간을 합산한 시간은 1/240(초) ~ 1/60(초) 범위 내인 백라이트 유닛의 디밍 제어방법. - 광을 조사하는 백라이트 유닛;
상기 백라이트 유닛에서 조사되는 광의 투과량을 제어하는 계조를 표시하는 표시패널;
상기 표시패널을 저주파수인 프레임 주파수(f)로 구동하도록 타이밍 제어신호를 생성하는 타이밍 콘트롤러;
상기 타이밍 제어신호에 응답하여 상기 표시패널을 구동하는 구동회로부;

상기 제1 펄스폭 변조 신호에 응답하여 상기 백라이트 유닛을 제1 디밍값의 밝기로 구동시키고, 상기 제2 펄스폭 변조 신호에 응답하여 상기 백라이트 유닛을 제2 디밍값의 밝기로 구동시키는 광원 드라이버를 포함하고,
상기 디밍 제어부는
상기 프레임 주파수(f)의 한 주기 내에서 상기 제2 펄스폭 변조 신호를 “{(60/f)-1}”회 출력시키는 액정표시장치.
이 때, k는 60이상 240 이하의 자연수. - 제 6 항에 있어서,
상기 타이밍 콘트롤러는, 제1 내지 제(60/f) 필드를 한 주기로 상기 표시패널을 구동하도록 상기 타이밍 제어신호를 출력하고,
상기 디밍 제어부는
제1 필드 동안, 제1 펄스폭 변조신호를 출력하고,
제2 필드 동안, 제2 펄스폭 변조신호 및 제1 펄스폭 변조신호를 교번적으로 출력하는 액정표시장치. - 제 6 항에 있어서,
상기 디밍 제어부는
상기 제2 필드에서 제2 펄스폭 변조신호를 출력하는 기간을 제3 필드에서 제2 펄스폭 변조신호를 출력하는 기간 보다 길게 설정하는 액정표시장치. - 제 6 항에 있어서,
상기 디밍 제어부는
제3 필드에서 제3 펄스폭 변조신호 및 상기 제1 펄스폭 변조신호를 교번으로 출력하고,
상기 제3 펄스폭 변조신호의 듀티비를 상기 제2 펄스폭 변조신호의 듀티비 보다 높게 설정하는 액정표시장치.
