본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치는, 파워 소스로부터 전력을 공급받아 부하로 전력을 출력하는 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 병렬로 연결되고, 상기 파워 소스로부터 전력을 공급받아 부하로 전력을 출력하는 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터와, 상기 부하에서 소요되는 전력 용량에 따라 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터 및 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터 각각의 동작을 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.

Description

차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법{Vehicle power control device and method}
본 발명은 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 더욱 자세하게는 회로의 크기 및 제조 비용을 줄일 수 있는 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.
최근 차량의 배터리 충방전 시스템, 무정전 전원공급시스템(UPS), 하이브리드 전기자동차(HEV) 등 여러 분야에 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터가 활용되고 있다. 기존에는 절연형 고주파변압기를 적용한 전압원 컨버터 또는 전류원 컨버터가 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터에 적용 개발되어왔다.
기존의 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터들은 기본적으로 하드스위칭(Hard Switching)을 수행하기 때문에 스위칭손실에 의한 전력변환손실과 집적화를 위해 스위칭주파수를 높이는데 있어서 한계가 있으므로 집적화 및 스위칭손실, EMI 저감을 위해 소프트 스위칭이 가능한 LLC 공진 컨버터가 접목된 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다.
종래 기술에서, DC-DC 변환을 위한 전력 변환기를 이용할 때, 비 절연형 컨버터를 병렬로 연결한다. 이는 병렬운전으로 인한 효율의 최적점을 찾고 인터리빙 제어기법 등을 이용하여 소자의 크기를 줄이기 위함이다. 또한 병렬운전으로 시스템의 한 상에서 고장이 발생하더라도 나머지 컨버터로 동작이 가능하기 때문에 시스템의 안정성을 높이는 효과를 갖기도 한다.
일반적인 병렬 구조의 DC-DC 컨버터는 비 공진형 파워 패스(Power Path) 2개가 병렬로 연결되는 구조를 갖는다. 그러나, 이 경우에는 비 공진형 컨버터 2개가 병렬로 연결되기 때문에 공진형 컨버터가 갖는 장점인 스위칭 손실의 감소로 인한 시스템 사이즈의 감소를 얻을 수가 없다. 한편, 공진형 컨버터를 병렬로 연결하여 시스템 사이즈 감소를 얻을 수 있다고 판단할 수 있으나, 공진형 컨버터만을 병렬로 연결하는 경우 다음과 같은 문제점을 갖는다.
공진형 컨버터의 경우 출력 전압의 범위가 작기 때문에 Open Loop PWM으로 구동하는 경우가 많다. 그러나, 공진형 컨버터를 이용할 경우에는 Open Loop PWM 방식으로는 제어가 불가능하기 때문에 PWM 제어가 필요한 전력 시스템에서는 적용이 불가능한 문제점이 있다. 즉, 비 공진형 컨버터를 병렬로 연결하면 전력 시스템의 제어가 가능하나 전력 시스템의 사이즈가 커지는 단점이 있다. 반면, 공진형 컨버터를 병렬로 연결하면 전력 시스템 사이즈가 작아지지만, 동작 제어가 불가해지는 단점이 있다.

본 발명은 앞에서 설명한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 것으로, 회로의 크기 및 제조 비용을 줄일 수 있는 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법을 제공하는 것을 기술적 과제로 한다.
위에서 언급된 본 발명의 기술적 과제 외에도, 본 발명의 다른 특징 및 이점들이 이하에서 기술되거나, 그러한 기술 및 설명으로부터 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 명확하게 이해될 수 있을 것이다.
앞에서 설명한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치는, 파워 소스로부터 전력을 공급받아 부하로 전력을 출력하는 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 병렬로 연결되고, 상기 파워 소스로부터 전력을 공급받아 부하로 전력을 출력하는 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터와, 상기 부하에서 소요되는 전력 용량에 따라 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터 및 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터 각각의 동작을 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치의 상기 제어부는, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터의 출력 용량을 판단하고, 상기 출력 용량이 부족할 때에는 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터를 부스트 모드로 동작시킨다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치의 상기 제어부는, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터의 출력 용량을 판단하고, 상기 출력 용량이 정격 요량보다 부족할 때에는 동작 중인 오픈 루프 컨버터에 추가로 하나 또는 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터 더 동작시킨다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치의 상기 제어부는, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터의 출력 용량을 판단하고, 상기 출력 용량이 정격 용량을 초과할 때에는 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터를 벅 모드로 동작시킨다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치의 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터는, 상기 부하에서 소비되고 남은 전력을 상기 파워 소스에 충전시킨다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치에서, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터로 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터를 적용한다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치에서, 상기 오픈 루프 컨버터로 LLC 공진 컨버터를 적용한다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 비 공진 구조로 인하여 사이즈 감소의 한계가 있지만 전압제어가 간단한 양방향 벅 부스트(Buck-Boost) 컨버터를 이용하여 전압제어를 수행한다. 이와 함께, 공진구조로 인하여 사이즈 감소가 가능하지만 전압제어가 기술적으로 어려운 LLC 공진 컨버터를 이용하여 전기적 용량을 증가시킨다. 이와 같이, 벅 부스트(Buck-Boost) 컨버터와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 병렬로 연결시켜 용량대비 전력 제어 시스템의 크기 및 제조 비용을 줄일 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 하나의 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터와 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 구동시켜 정격 출력을 유지하다가, 부하에서 필요한 전력 용량이 부족할 때에는 추가로 하나 또는 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 더 구동시켜 정격 출력을 유지시킬 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터의 구동 시 전력 용량이 초과되면, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터를 벅 모드로 동작시켜 초과된 전력 용량을 흡수함으로써 정격 출력을 유지시킬 수 있다.
이 밖에도, 본 발명의 실시 예들을 통해 본 발명의 또 다른 특징 및 이점들이 새롭게 파악될 수도 있을 것이다.

이하, 첨부한 도면을 참고로 하여 본 발명의 실시 예에 대하여 본 발명이 속하는 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 상세히 설명한다. 본 발명은 여러 가지 상이한 형태로 구현될 수 있으며 여기에서 설명하는 실시 예에 한정되지 않는다.

이하, 첨부한 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 실시 예에 대하여 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 상세히 설명한다. 그러나 본 발명은 여러 가지 상이한 형태로 구현될 수 있으며 여기에서 설명하는 실시 예에 한정되지 않는다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 비 공진 구조로 인하여 사이즈 감소의 한계가 있지만 전압제어가 간단한 양방향 벅 부스트(Buck-Boost) 컨버터를 이용하여 전압제어를 수행한다. 이와 함께, 공진구조로 인하여 사이즈 감소가 가능하지만 전압제어가 기술적으로 어려운 LLC 공진 컨버터를 이용하여 전기적 용량을 증가시킨다. 이와 같이, 벅 부스트(Buck-Boost) 컨버터와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 병렬로 연결시켜 용량대비 전력 제어 시스템의 크기 및 제조 비용을 줄일 수 있다.
도 1은 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치를 나타내는 도면이고, 도 2는 도 1에 도시된 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터 및 LLC 공진 컨버터의 병렬 연결 구조를 나타내는 도면이다.
도 1 및 도 2를 참조하면, 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치(100)는 파워 소스(110), 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120, 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터), LLC 공진 컨버터부(130, 오픈 루프 컨버터), 제어부(140)를 포함한다.
본 발명에서는 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터의 일 예로서 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 적용하였다. 그리고, LLC 공진 컨버터부(130)는 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)를 포함하며, 본 발명에서는 오픈 루프 컨버터의 일 예로서 LLC 공진 컨버터를 적용하였다.
하나의 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)가 병렬로 연결되어 있다. 파워 소스(110)가 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)에 전력을 공급하고, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)에서 입력되는 전력이 파워 소스(110)에 충전될 수 있다.
하나의 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)에 병렬로 연결되는 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)의 개수에는 크게 제약이 없으며, 부하(150)의 용량에 따라서 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)의 개수를 2개, 3개, 4개 등으로 증가시켜 전력 시스템의 용량을 증가시킬 수 있다. 즉, 부하(150)의 용량을 감안하여 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)의 개수를 결정함으로 최적의 전력 설계가 가능하고, 이에 따라서 전력 시스템의 크기, 무게, 부피와 함께 제조 비용도 줄일 수 있다.
차량의 전력 제어 장치(100)는 부하(150)의 용량에 따라서 하나의 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)를 선택적으로 동작시킬 수 있다.
도 3은 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 방법을 나타내는 것으로, 출력 용량이 동작점에 도달하기 이전에 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 구동시키는 전력 제어 방법을 나타내는 도면이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 제어부(140)는 부하(150)의 용량의 동작점을 확인하고, 부하(150)의 용량이 동작점에 도달하기 이전에는 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120) 및 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132)를 동작시킨다. 그리고, 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132)에서 부하(150)로 전력을 공급한다. 또한, 제어부(140)는 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 부스트 모드(boost mode)로 동작시켜, 오버되는 출력 용량을 부하(150)로 공급한다.
한편, 부하(150)에서 소비되고 남은 전력은 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 통해 파워 소스(110)에 공급되어, 파워 소스(110)를 충전시킬 수 있다.
여기서, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)가 부스트 모드로 동작할 때 2개의 스테이지(stage)를 거치면서 일부 전력 손실이 발생할 수 있으나, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)의 출력 효율이 95% 이상임으로 이러한 전력 손실은 미미한 양이다. 또한, 부하(150)의 동작점가지 도달하는 시간이 짧음으로 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)의 부스트 모드 동작으로 인한 전력 손실은 무시할 수 있는 수준이다.
도 4는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 방법을 나타내는 것으로, 출력 용량이 동작점에 도달하기 이전에 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 구동시키는 전력 제어 방법을 나타내는 도면이다.
도 4를 참조하면, 제어부(140)는 부하(150)에서 요구되는 전력 용량이 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132)의 구동에 의한 출력 용량을 초과하는지 확인한다.
확인 결과, 제어부(140)는 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132)의 출력을 초과하면,
기존에 동작하던 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132) 이외에 LLC 공진 컨버터(134)를 추가로 동작시킨다. 이를 통해, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)를 동작시켜 정격 출력을 유지시킨다. 즉, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 133)의 동작에 의해 출력 전력이 동작점에 도달하면, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 133)가 정격 출력을 유지하게 된다. 그리고, 제어부(140)는 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 부스트 모드(boost mode)로 동작시켜, 오버되는 출력 용량을 부하(150)로 공급한다.
여기서, 부하(150)에서 필요한 전력 용량에 따라서, 2개의 LLC 공진 컨버터, 3개의 LLC 공진 컨버터 또는 4개 이상의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 동시에 구동시켜 정격 용량을 유지시킬 수 있다.
한편, 부하(150)에서 소비되고 남은 전력은 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 통해 파워 소스(110)에 공급되어, 파워 소스(110)를 충전시킬 수 있다.
도 5는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 방법을 나타내는 것으로, 출력 용량이 동작점에 도달한 이후 과부하 동작 시 전력 제어 방법을 나타내는 도면이다.
도 5를 참조하면, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 133)의 동작에 의해 출력 전력이 동작점에 도달하면, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 133)가 정격 출력을 유지하게 된다.
이후, 제어부(140)는 동작점보다 과부하가 인가되는지 확인한다. 즉, 부하(150)에서 소요되는 용량을 초과하여 전력이 출력되는지 확인한다. 확인 결과, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)의 출력이 부하(150)에서 요구되는 전력 용량을 초과하면 출력 용량을 낮추어야 한다.
이를 위해, 과부하가 인가될 경우에 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 벅 모드(buck mode)로 동작시켜, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)의 전체 전력 출력이 정격 출력을 유지하도록 한다. 즉, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터(132, 134)의 동작으로 인해 초과되는 전력 용량만큼 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 벅 모드로 동작시켜 흡수함으로써 정격 출력이 유지되도록 한다.
한편, 부하(150)에서 소비되고 남은 전력은 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터(120)를 통해 파워 소스(110)에 공급되어, 파워 소스(110)를 충전시킬 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 비 공진 구조로 인하여 사이즈 감소의 한계가 있지만 전압제어가 간단한 양방향 벅 부스트(Buck-Boost) 컨버터를 이용하여 전압제어를 수행한다. 이와 함께, 공진구조로 인하여 사이즈 감소가 가능하지만 전압제어가 기술적으로 어려운 LLC 공진 컨버터를 이용하여 전기적 용량을 증가시킨다. 이와 같이, 벅 부스트(Buck-Boost) 컨버터와 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 병렬로 연결시켜 용량대비 전력 제어 시스템의 크기 및 제조 비용을 줄일 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 하나의 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터와 하나의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 구동시켜 정격 출력을 유지하다가, 부하에서 필요한 전력 용량이 부족할 때에는 추가로 하나 또는 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터를 더 구동시켜 정격 출력을 유지시킬 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 차량의 전력 제어 장치 및 방법은, 복수의 LLC 공진 컨버터의 구동 시 전력 용량이 초과되면, 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터를 벅 모드로 동작시켜 초과된 전력 용량을 흡수함으로써 정격 출력을 유지시킬 수 있다.
본 발명이 속하는 기술 분야의 당업자는 본 발명이 그 기술적 사상이나 필수적 특징을 변경하지 않고서 다른 구체적인 형태로 실시될 수 있으므로, 이상에서 기술한 실시 예들은 모든 면에서 예시적인 것이며 한정적인 것이 아닌 것으로서 이해해야만 한다. 본 발명의 범위는 상세한 설명보다는 후술하는 특허청구범위에 의하여 나타내어지며, 특허청구범위의 의미 및 범위 그리고 그 등가개념으로부터 도출되는 모든 변경 또는 변형된 형태가 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 한다.

  2. 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 제어부는,
    상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터의 출력 용량을 판단하고, 상기 출력 용량이 부족할 때에는 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터를 부스트 모드로 동작시키는 차량의 전력 제어 장치.
  3. 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 제어부는,
    상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터의 출력 용량을 판단하고, 상기 출력 용량이 정격 요량보다 부족할 때에는 동작 중인 오픈 루프 컨버터에 추가로 하나 또는 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터 더 동작시키는 차량의 전력 제어 장치.
  4. 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 제어부는,
    상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터와 상기 복수의 오픈 루프 컨버터의 출력 용량을 판단하고, 상기 출력 용량이 정격 용량을 초과할 때에는 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터를 벅 모드로 동작시키는 차량의 전력 제어 장치.
  5. 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터는,
    상기 부하에서 소비되고 남은 전력을 상기 파워 소스에 충전시키는 차량의 전력 제어 장치.
  6. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 클로즈드 루프 벅 부스트 컨버터로 양방향 벅 부스트 컨버터가 적용된 차량의 전력 제어 장치.
  7. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 오픈 루프 컨버터로 LLC 공진 컨버터가 적용된 차량의 전력 제어 장치.
