상기 투여 유닛은 실린더의 라이너 또는 커버에 배치되고, 바람직하게는, 연료 분사 장치와 동일한 축선 방향 위치에 배치되는, 내연 엔진(20). - 내연 엔진(20), 바람직하게는 제 1 항 내지 제 10 항 중 어느 한 항에 따른내연 엔진(20)의 NOX 배출을 감소시키기 위한 방법으로서,
600 rpm 보다 작은, 바람직하게는 200 rpm 보다 작은, 더 바람직하게는 150 rpm 보다 작은 느린 엔진 속도 및/또는 0.1 초 보다 큰 사이클 시간으로 내연 엔진(20)을 운전시키는 단계; 및
특히 NH3을 포함하는 환원제를 실린더(21) 안으로 투여하는 단계를 포함하는, 방법. - 제 10 항 또는 제 11 항에 있어서,
실린더 내의 NOX 양을 적어도 50%, 바람직하게는 적어도 70%, 더 바람직하게는 적어도 76% 감소시키는 단계를 포함하는 방법. - 제 10 항에 있어서,
사이클당 및/또는 실린더(21)의 부피당 실린더(21) 안으로 투여될 환원제의 양은 사이클당 실린더 내에서 생성된 NOX 의 양에 화학양론적으로 대응하도록 결정되는, 방법. - 제 11 항 내지 제 13 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
배기 가스 내의 NOX 함량을 결정하고 바람직하게는 측정된 NOX 함량을 기준 값과 비교하고 또한 더 바람직하게는 실린더(21) 안으로 투여되는 환원제의 투여량을 결정된 NOX 함량에 근거하여 조절하는 단계를 포함하는, 방법. - 제 11 항 내지 제 14 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 실린더(21)를 떠나는 배기 가스를 NH3 슬립을 감소시키기 위한 장치(22)에 안내하는 단계를 포함하고, 이 장치는 특히 SCR 촉매, 가수 분해 촉매 및 NH3 슬립 촉매 장치 중의 적어도 하나를 포함하는, 방법.
