Abstract

A harness safety alarm for providing a warning in the event that a seat belt is uncoupled comprises a proximity sensor (19) connected by straps (20, 21) to a seat belt buckle (13). A detectable means (22), such as a magnet, is attached by strap (23) to the tongue (16) of the seat belt. A warning unit (30), which is mounted remotely from the proximity sensor (19), provides an audible and visual warning if the seat belt is uncoupled. In particular, if the seat belt is uncoupled, the sensing means (19) sends a radio frequency signal to the warning unit (30) to thereby activate the audible and visual warning.ą
