Abstract

CAMPO DE LA INVENCIÓN
La invención se ocupa de una composición herbicida sinérgica que contiene (a) penoxsulam y (b) pendimetalina para controlar el crecimiento de vegetación no deseada, particularmente en cultivos múltiples, incluyendo arroz, cereal y cultivos de grano, césped, manejo de vegetación industrial (IVM), caña de azúcar y huertos de árboles y de vid.
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓN
La protección de cultivos de hierbas y otra vegetación que inhibe el crecimiento del cultivo es un problema constantemente recurrente en la agricultura. Para ayudar a combatir este problema, los investigadores en el
campo de la química sintética han producido una variedad extensiva de compuestos químicos y formulaciones químicas efectivas en el control de dicho crecimiento no deseado. Los herbicidas químicos de muchos tipos se han divulgado en la literatura y un gran número está en uso comercial.
En algunos casos, los ingredientes activos herbicidas han mostrado ser más efectivos en combinación que cuando se aplican individualmente y esto se refiere como "sinergismo". Como se describe en el Herbicide Handbook de la Weed Science Society of America, Novena Edición, 2007, p. 429, "'sinergismo' [es] una interacción de dos o más factores de modo que el efecto cuando se combinan es mayor que el efecto predicho basado en la respuesta de cada factor aplicado por separado." La presente invención está basada en el descubrimiento de que la pendimetalina y el penoxsulam, ya conocidos individualmente por su eficacia herbicida, presentan un efecto sinérgico cuando se aplican en combinación.

Décima quinta Edición, 2009. La pendimetalina controla la mayoría de los pastos anuales y muchas hierbas anuales de hoja ancha en una variedad de cultivos.
El término "herbicida" se usa en la presente para referirse a un ingrediente activo que mata, controla o de otro modo modifica negativamente el crecimiento de las plantas. Una cantidad controladora de vegetación o efectiva como herbicida es una cantidad de ingrediente activo que causa un efecto modificador negativo e incluye desviaciones del desarrollo natural, muerte, regulación, desecación, retraso y similares. Los términos "plantas y vegetación" incluyen semillas germinales, plántulas emergentes, plantas que emergen de propágulos vegetativos y vegetación establecida.
La actividad herbicida se exhibe por medio de los compuestos de la mezcla sinérgica cuando se aplican directamente a la planta o al locus de la planta en cualquier etapa de crecimiento o antes del plantado o emergencia. El efecto observado depende de la especie de planta a controlarse, la etapa de crecimiento de la planta, los parámetros de aplicación de dilución y el tamaño de la gota de rocío, el tamaño de partícula de componentes sólidos, las condiciones ambientales al momento del uso, el
compuesto específico empleado, los adyuvantes y portadores específicos empleados, el tipo de suelo y similares, así como la cantidad de compuesto químico aplicado. Estos y otros factores se pueden ajustar como se conoce en la técnica para promover la acción herbicida no selectiva o selectiva. Generalmente, se prefiere aplicar la composición de la presente invención pre-emergencia a post-emergencia temprana a la vegetación no deseada relativamente inmadura para lograr el máximo control de hierbas.
En la composición de esta invención, la relación de ingrediente activo (peso-con-peso, p:p) de pendimetalina con penoxsulam en la cual el efecto herbicida es sinérgico yace dentro del intervalo de entre aproximadamente 5:1 y 320:1 , y en ciertas modalidades, una relación de aproximadamente 55:1. En otras modalidades, la relación está en el intervalo de 224:1 a 3:1. En ciertas modalidades, la relación está en el intervalo de 55:1 a 17:1.
La velocidad a la cual se aplica la composición sinérgica dependerá del tipo particular de hierba a controlarse, el grado de control requerido y el tiempo y método de aplicación. En algunas modalidades, la composición de la invención se puede aplicar a una velocidad de aplicación de entre aproximadamente 160 gramos de ingrediente activo por hectárea (gai/ha) y aproximadamente 1850 gai/ha basándose en la cantidad total de ingredientes activos en la composición. En otras modalidades, la composición de la invención se puede aplicar a una velocidad de aplicación de entre aproximadamente 130 gramos de ingrediente activo por hectárea (gai/ha) y
aproximadamente 2290 gai/ha basándose en la cantidad total de ingredientes activos en la composición. En ciertas modalidades, se prefiere una velocidad de aplicación de entre aproximadamente 760 gai/ha y aproximadamente 1800 gai/ha. En otras modalidades, se prefiere una velocidad de aplicación de entre aproximadamente 180 gai/ha y aproximadamente 1730 gai/ha. En algunas modalidades, la pendimetalina se aplica a una velocidad de entre aproximadamente 150 gai/ha y aproximadamente 1500 gai/ha, y el penoxsulam se aplica a una velocidad de entre aproximadamente 10 gai/ha y aproximadamente 50 gai/ha. En algunas modalidades, la pendimetalina se aplica a una velocidad de entre aproximadamente 500 gai/ha y aproximadamente 1100 gai/ha, y el penoxsulam se aplica a una velocidad de entre aproximadamente 10 gai/ha y aproximadamente 40 gai/ha.
Los componentes de la mezcla sinérgica de la presente invención se puede aplicar ya sea por separado o como parte de un sistema herbicida de multi-partes.
La mezcla sinérgica de la presente invención se puede aplicar en conjunción con uno o más de otros herbicidas para controlar una variedad más amplia de vegetación no deseada. Cuando se usa en conjunción con otros herbicidas, la composición se puede formular con el otro herbicida o herbicidas, mezclarse en tanque con el otro herbicida o herbicidas o aplicarse secuencialmente con el otro herbicida o herbicidas. La mezcla sinérgica de la presente invención se puede emplear adicionalmente para controlar vegetación no deseada en muchos cultivos que
se han hecho tolerantes a o resistentes a ella o a otros herbicidas por medio de manipulación genética o por medio de mutación y selección. La composición sinérgica de la presente invención puede, además, usarse en conjunción con 2,4-D, glifosato, glufosinato, dicamba, sulfonilureas o imidazolinonas sobre cultivos tolerantes a 2,4-D, glifosato, glufosinato, dicamba, sulfonilurea o imidazolinona.
Generalmente se prefiere usar la composición sinérgica de la presente invención en combinación con herbicidas que son selectivos para el cultivo que se está tratando y que complementa el espectro de hierbas controladas por medio de estos compuestos a la velocidad de aplicación empleada. Además generalmente se prefiere aplicar la composición sinérgica de la presente invención y otros herbicidas complementarios al mismo tiempo, ya sea como una formulación de combinación o como una mezcla de tanque.
La composición sinérgica de la presente invención generalmente se puede emplear en combinación con protectores herbicidas conocidos, como benoxacor, bentiocarb, brasinolida, cloquintoceto (mexilo), ciometrinilo, ciprosulfamato, daimurona, diclormida, diciclonona, dietolato, dimepiperato, disulfotona, fenclorazol-etilo, fenclorim, flurazol, fluxofenim, furilazol, proteínas de harpina, isoxadifeno-etilo, mefenpir-dietilo, mefenato, MG 191 , MON 4660, anhídrido naftálico (NA), oxabetrinilo, R29148 y amidas de ácido A/-fenil-sulfonilbenzoico, para mejorar su selectividad.
En la práctica, es preferible usar la composición sinérgica de la presente invención en mezclas que contienen una cantidad efectiva como
herbicida de los componentes herbicidas junto con al menos un adyuvante o portador agriculturalmente aceptable. Los adyuvantes o portadores adecuados no deben ser fitotóxicos a cultivos de valor, particularmente en las concentraciones empleadas al aplicar las composiciones para control selectivo de hierbas en presencia de cultivos, y no deben reaccionar químicamente con componentes herbicidas u otros ingredientes de la composición. Dichas mezclas se pueden diseñar para aplicación directa a hierbas o sus loci o pueden ser concentrados o formulaciones que normalmente están diluidas con portadores y adyuvantes adicionales antes de la aplicación. Pueden ser sólidos, como, por ejemplo, polvos, gránulos, granulos dispersables en agua o polvos humectables, o líquidos, como, por ejemplo, concentrados emulsionables, soluciones, emulsiones o suspensiones.
Los adyuvantes y portadores agrícolas adecuados que son útiles en la preparación de mezclas herbicidas de la invención son conocidos para los expertos en la técnica. Algunos de estos adyuvantes incluyen, pero no se limitan a, concentrado de aceite de cultivo (aceite mineral (85%) + emulsificantes (15%)); etoxilato de nonilfenol; sal de amonio cuaternaria de bencilcocoalquildimetilo; mezcla de hidrocarburo de petróleo, ésteres de alquilo, ácido orgánico y surfactante aniónico; C9-C alquilpoliglicósido; etoxilato de alcohol fosfatado; etoxilato de alcohol primario natural (C12-Ci6); copolímero en bloque de di-sec-butílfenol EO-PO; tapa de polisiloxano-metilo; etoxilato de nonilfenol + nitrato de amonio de urea; semilla de aceite metilada
emulsificada; etoxilato de alcohol tridecílico (sintético) (8EO); etoxilato de amina de sebo (15 EO); PEG(400) dioleato-99.
Los portadores líquidos que se pueden emplear incluyen agua y solventes orgánicos. Los solventes orgánicos típicamente usados incluyen, pero sin limitarse a, fracciones de petróleo o hidrocarburos como aceite mineral, solventes aromáticos, aceites parafínicos y similares; aceites vegetales como el aceite de soya, aceite de colza, aceite de oliva, aceite de ricino, aceite de semilla de girasol, aceite de coco, aceite de maíz, aceite de semilla de algodón, aceite de linaza, aceite de palma, aceite de cacahuate, aceite de cártamo, aceite de ajonjolí, aceite de tung y similares; ésteres de los aceites vegetales anteriores; ésteres de monoalcoholes o dihidricos, trihídricos u otros polialcoholes inferiores (que contienen 4-6 hidroxi), como estearato de 2-etil hexilo, n-butilo oleato, miristato de isopropilo, dioleato de propilenglicol, succinato de di-octilo, adipato de di-butilo, ftalato de di-octilo y similares; ésteres de ácidos mono, di y policarboxílicos y similares. Los solventes orgánicos específicos incluyen tolueno, xileno, nafta de petróleo, aceite de cultivo, acetona, metil etil cetona, ciclohexanona, tricloroetileno, percloroetileno, acetato de etilo, acetato de amilo, acetato de butilo, monometiléter de propilenglicol y monometiléter de dietilenglicol, alcohol metílico, alcohol etílico, alcohol isopropílico, alcohol amílico, etilenglicol, propilenglicol, glícerina, A/-metil-2-pirrolidinona, A/,A/-dimetil alquilamidas, dimetil sulfóxido, fertilizantes líquidos y similares. Generalmente el agua es el portador a elegir para la dilución de concentrados.
Los portadores sólidos adecuados incluyen talco, arcilla de pirofilita, silicio, arcilla de attapulgus, arcilla de caolina, kieselghur, tiza, tierra de diatomeas, cal, carbonato de calcio, arcilla de bentonita, tierra de Fuller, cascarilla de algodón, harina de trigo, harina de soya, piedra pómez, harina de madera, harina de cáscara de nuez, lignina y similares.
Usualmente es deseable incorporar uno o más agentes activos superficiales en las composiciones de la presente invención. Dichos agentes activos superficiales se emplean ventajosamente en composiciones tanto sólidas como líquidas, especialmente aquellas diseñadas para diluirse con el portador antes de la aplicación. Los agentes activos superficiales pueden ser aniónicos o no iónicos en carácter y se pueden emplear como agentes emulsificantes, agentes humectantes, agentes de suspensión o para otros propósitos. Los surfactantes usados convencionalmente en la técnica de la formulación y que también se pueden usar en las presentes formulaciones se describen, inter alia, en " cCutcheon's Detergents and Emulsifiers Annual," C Publishing Corp., Ridgewood, New Jersey, 1998 and in "Encyclopedia of Surfactants," Vol. I— III, Chemical Publishing Co., New York, 1980-81. dibutilnaftalenosulfonato de sodio; ésteres de dialquilo de sales de sulfosuccinato, como di(2-etilhexil) sulfosuccinato de sodio; ésteres de sorbitol, como oleato de sorbitol; aminas cuaternarias, como cloruro de lauril trimetilamonio; ésteres de polietilenglicol de ácidos grasos, como estearato de polietilenglicol; copolímeros de bloque de óxido de etileno y óxido de propileno; sales de ésteres de mono- y dialquil fosfato; aceites vegetales o de semillas como aceite de soya, aceite de corza/canola, aceite de oliva, aceite de ricino, aceite de semilla de girasol, aceite de coco, aceite de maiz, aceite de semilla de algodón, aceite de linaza, aceite de palma, aceite de cacahuate, aceite de cártamo, aceite de ajonjolí, aceite de tung y similares; y ésteres de los aceites vegetales anteriores, particularmente ésteres de metilo.
En ocasiones, algunos de estos materiales, como los aceites vegetales o de semilla y sus ésteres, se pueden usar indistintamente como un adyuvante agrícola, como un portador líquido o como un agente activo superficial.
Otros adyuvantes usados comúnmente en composiciones agrícolas incluyen agentes de compatibilidad, agentes antiespumantes, agentes secuestrantes, agentes neutralizantes y reguladores de pH, inhibidores de corrosión, colorantes, odorantes, agentes de esparcimiento, ayudas de penetración, agentes adherentes, agentes dispersantes, agentes espesantes, depresores del punto de congelamiento, agentes antimicrobianos y similares. Las composiciones también pueden contener otros componentes compatibles, por ejemplo, otros herbicidas, reguladores del crecimiento
vegetal, fungicidas, insecticidas y similares y se pueden formular con fertilizantes líquidos o sólidos, portadores de fertilizante particulado como nitrato de amonio, urea y similares.
La concentración de ingredientes activos en la composición sinérgica de la presente invención generalmente es de 0.001 a 98% en peso. Las concentraciones de 0.01 a 90% en peso se emplean a menudo. En las composiciones diseñadas para emplearse como concentrados, los ingredientes activos generalmente están presentes en una concentración de 1 a 98% en peso, preferiblemente de 2 a 90%. Dichas composiciones típicamente se diluyen con un portador inerte, como agua, antes de la aplicación. Las composiciones diluidas usualmente aplicadas a hierbas o a los loci de hierbas generalmente contienen de 0.0001 a 1 % en peso de ingrediente activo y preferiblemente contienen de 0.001 a 0.05% en peso.
Las presentes composiciones se pueden aplicar a hierbas o sus loci por medio del uso de fumigadores terrestres o aéreos, rociadores y aplicadores de granulo, por medio de adición al agua de irrigación y por otros medios convencionales conocidos por los expertos en la técnica.
Los siguientes ejemplos ilustran la presente invención.
EJEMPLOS
Evaluación de Actividad Herbicida de Pre-emerqencia de Mezclas bajo
Condiciones de Campo
Metodología
Se condujeron ensayos de campo en cultivos de arroz y árboles usando metodología de investigación de parcela pequeña de herbicida estándar. El tamaño de parcela fue típico para investigación de parcela pequeña, variando de 2 a 4 metros (m) de ancho por 6.7 a 10 metros de largo. Hubo de 3 a 4 replicados por tratamiento. Los tipos de suelo variaron de textura de suelo media a fina. Los cultivos de arroz o cereal se sembraron por medio de siembra seca directa mecánica según las prácticas culturales locales normales. El cultivo de arroz o cereal se cultivó usando prácticas normales de cultivo para fertilización, riego, inundación y mantenimiento para asegurar el buen crecimiento del cultivo y de las hierbas.
Los tratamientos se aplicaron por medio de rociador de mochila usando ya sea aire comprimido o C02, a presiones de rociado de 124 a 276 kilopascales (kPa). Las puntas de rociado típicamente fueron boquillas Fiat Fan Teejet, como TJ8002 a TJ1 10015 o XR1 001. Los volúmenes de rociado variaron de 93.5 a 250 litros por hectárea (L/ha). Se aplicó el penoxsulam como los productos comerciales Grasp SC (240 gr ai/L) o Clipper 20 OD (20 gramos ai/L); se aplicó la pendimetalina como el producto comercial Prowl EC.
Para cada tratamiento, la cantidad apropiada de producto formulado para tratar el área de parcela, para lograr la velocidad de aplicación deseada, basándose en el área de unidad de aplicación (hectárea), se calculó, midió y mezcló en agua antes de aplicar con el rociador de mochila. Los tratamientos se clasificaron en comparación con las parcelas control no tratadas.
Evaluación
Las parcelas tratadas y las parcelas control se clasificaron como ciegas en varios intervalos después de la aplicación. Las clasificaciones se basaron en Porcentaje (%) Visual de control de hierba, en donde 0 corresponde a no daño y 100 corresponde a muerte completa.
Se recolectaron los datos para todos los ensayos y se analizaron usando varios métodos estadísticos.
La ecuación de Colby se usó para determinar los efectos herbicidas esperados de las mezclas (Colby, S. R. Calculation of the synergistic and antagonistic response of herbicide combinations. Weeds 1967, 15, 20-22).
Se usó la siguiente ecuación para calcular la actividad esperada de mezclas que contienen dos ingredientes activos, A y B:
Esperada = A + B - (A x B/100)
A = eficacia observada de ingrediente activo A a la misma concentración que se usó en la mezcla;
B = eficiencia observada del ingrediente activo B a la misma concentración que se usó en la mezcla.
Los resultados se resumen en los Cuadros del 1 al 3.

Claims (10)
1 - Una composición herbicida sinérgica que comprende una cantidad efectiva como herbicida de (a) penoxsulam y (b) pendimetalina.
2 - La composición de conformidad con la reivindicación 1 , caracterizada además porque la relación de peso de pendimetalina con penoxsulam sobre la base de un ingrediente activo (ai) está entre aproximadamente 224:1 y aproximadamente 3:1.
3 - La composición de conformidad con la reivindicación 1 , caracterizada además porque la relación de peso de pendimetalina con penoxsulam sobre la base de un ingrediente activo (ai) está entre aproximadamente 55:1 y aproximadamente 17:1.
4 - La composición de conformidad con la reivindicación 1 , caracterizada además porque comprende adicionalmente un adyuvante o portador agriculturalmente aceptable.
5. - Un método para controlar vegetación no deseada que comprende poner en contacto la vegetación o el locus de la misma con una cantidad efectiva como herbicida de la composición de conformidad con la reivindicación 1.
6. - El método de conformidad con la reivindicación 5, caracterizado además porque la composición se aplica a una velocidad de aplicación de entre aproximadamente 130 gai/ha y aproximadamente 2290 gai/ha.
7. - El método de conformidad con la reivindicación 5, caracterizado además porque la composición se aplica a una velocidad de aplicación de entre aproximadamente 180 gai/ha y aproximadamente 1730 gai/ha.
8. - El método de conformidad con la reivindicación 5, caracterizado además porque la pendimetalina se aplica a una velocidad de entre aproximadamente 500 gai/ha y aproximadamente 1100 gai/ha y el penoxsulam se aplica a una velocidad de entre aproximadamente 10 gai/ha y aproximadamente 40 gai/ha.
9. - El método de conformidad con la reivindicación 5, caracterizado además porque la vegetación no deseada es lagunilla, enredadera, hierba de café, colona, hierba muraina acanalada o cola de zorra.
10.- Un método para controlar vegetación no deseada en un cultivo, que comprende poner en contacto la vegetación o el locus de la misma con una cantidad efectiva como herbicida de la composición de conformidad con la reivindicación 1 , en donde el cultivo es arroz, cereal, grano, césped, IVM, caña de azúcar o huerto de árboles y vid. 1 1.- El método de conformidad con la reivindicación 10, caracterizado además porque la composición de conformidad con la reivindicación 1 se aplica pre-emergencia a post-emergencia temprana de la vegetación no deseada.
