Abstract

Se divulgan métodos para el reciclado de alfombras que producen fibra frontal limpia adecuada para el uso industrial. Los métodos permiten la recuperación del material de fibra frontal, por ejemplo un poliéster o una poliamida, de las alfombras que incluyen un material de fibra frontal y un material de respaldo, e incluyen las etapas de calentar la alfombra a una temperatura menor que el punto de fusión del material de fibra frontal, pero más alta que la temperatura de descomposición térmica inicial del material de respaldo, durante un tiempo y a una temperatura suficiente para descomponer térmicamente, pirolizar u oxidar por lo menos una porción del material de respaldo, haciendo el material de respaldo friable, que es más friable que el respaldo no tratado; y aplicar fuerza mecánica a la alfombra para liberar el material de respaldo friable del material de fibra frontal.
