Abstract
Se proporciona un método y un aparato para diagnosticar y/o tratar trastornos del estado de ánimo, como depresión. La función vestibular derecha en los individuos a los que se les diagnosticó un trastorno del estado de ánimo se ve disminuida en comparación con la de individuos que no presentan un trastorno del estado de ánimo. Por consiguiente, se proporciona un método y un aparato para determinar la función vestibular derecha en un individuo, a partir de la cual puede determinarse el diagnóstico de un trastorno del estado de ánimo. La estimulación del sistema vestibular de un individuo al que se le diagnosticó un trastorno del estado de ánimo puede reducir los síntomas del trastorno del estado de ánimo en el individuo. Se proporciona un método y un aparato para registrar la respuesta de un individuo a la estimulación del sistema vestibular y que proporciona estimulación vestibular terapéutica con base en la respuesta del individuo. La respuesta de un individuo a la estimulación del sistema vestibular puede basarse en las mediciones del nistagmo en el individuo.
