Abstract

Se describe un proceso para la fabricación de nanopartículas de materiales biocompatibles, en donde una mezcla de reacción acuosa que comprende ion ceroso, ácido cítrico y ácido etilendiaminotetraacético en una proporción determinada, un oxidante y el agua se proporciona junto con condiciones de temperatura para formar directamente, sin aislamiento, una dispersión estable de nanopartículas de óxido de cerio. Estas nanopartículas de óxido de cerio biocompatibles se pueden utilizar para prevenir y/o tratar las enfermedades relacionadas con el estrés oxidativo, tales como un derrame cerebral, esclerosis múltiple de recaída/remisión, esclerosis múltiple crónica progresiva, esclerosis lateral amiotrófica, y lesión por reperfusión isquémica.
